MEMBER TESTIMONIAL
We had an incredible three-night stay at Broad Waters, camping in a lovely flat area surrounded by nature. From the moment we arrived, Broady and Di welcomed us with kindness and generosity, sharing their extensive local knowledge and passion for the area.
On Thursday night, we had the unique experience of joining them at the caravan park, where they shuck oysters for the public. Not only did we get to enjoy fresh, delicious oysters from a local supplier (just $1 each!), but Broady also taught our children how to shuck them, deepening our family’s love for oysters.
Thanks to their tip, we also discovered the local sourdough bread shed, which opens at 4 pm on Thursdays, allowing us to enjoy a warm, freshly baked loaf of the most delicious bread.
That evening, we joined them for a meal at the local sports club, which was a great night out.
On Friday morning, we set off on a fantastic Coffin Bay Tour with Broady at 10 am.
This was an educational and engaging experience, exploring the sights of Coffin Bay, visiting a working oyster factory, and learning all about the life cycle of oysters, as well as the fascinating history of the area, including Matthew Flinders’ journey. Another highlight was visiting a local silver jewellery workshop, where we watched a silver pour and admired the craftsmanship of local artists.
Broady had plenty of great travel tips, and in the afternoon, we ventured to Greenly Beach. Unfortunately, the tide wasn’t in our favour, and the rock pools were more like powerful whirlpools, but it was still an exciting adventure!
That night, we gathered around the fire pit with Broady and Di, exchanging card game knowledge and enjoying great company.
On Saturday, we explored the stunning Coffin Bay National Park, spending hours watching dolphins swimming at the beach near Golden Island, a truly magical sight.
Later, Broady gave us a sand dune driving lesson, lent the kids sandboards, and even taught us how to find cockles at the beach.
This was easily our favourite afternoon of the trip so far! We wrapped up the night with another cosy fire pit session, sharing stories and playing cards.
Tips for Your Stay: • Definitely book a tour with Broady, his local knowledge is unmatched! • Don’t miss the Thursday afternoon sourdough bread shed opening. • If you love oysters, Broady can help you get them fresh at an unbeatable price. • Bring a bottle of red wine, Broady and Di appreciate a good drop!
Our time at Broad Waters was truly unforgettable, and we can’t wait to return.
Thank you, Broady and Di, for making our first Landavan stay so special!
Thank you Alice for such a detail review!
